Sanjay Trehan is the CEO of NDTV Convergence Ltd., a company under the NDTV Networks Plc umbrella. It houses all the dotcom and mobile properties of the NDTV Group, including the flagship NDTV.com.
Central to the plans of NDTV Convergence is building synergy between TV channels, the Internet and mobile space.Sanjay’s mandate is to dramatically increase the scale of operations, and to seize the opportunity in the increasingly converging environment.
Under Sanjay’s leadership, NDTV Convergence has incubated many new initiatives in the Web 2.0 and Mobile space. India’s first full service wap portal, mobile.ndtv.com, has been launched with a slew of interactive features.
NDTVkhabar.com, launched in March 2008, is the first-of-its-kind rich media Hindi portal targeting the growing number of Hindi speaking surfers.
Convergence is poised to launch a slew of web products catering to the discerning tastes of the Indian netizen such as Nogyan.com, an attitudinal youth portal and a US edition of ndtv.com. Convergence is also exploring opportunities in yet nascent domains such as mobile television, online education and social networking.
Prior to joining NDTV, Sanjay was Vice President Broadband and Web 2.0 at Indiatimes, where he rolled out a number of verticals and built Web 2.0 communities. He also took Indiatimes into the online Gaming arena. Before that, he was the Chief of Internet Business at the Hindustan Times, where he turned around their website from losses to profitability.
An alumnus of St. Stephen's College, Sanjay is a founding member of Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI). He has also published a book of poems. |
